ProjectWise Explorer V8 XM silent uninstallation fails

to do a silent install you don't need to reference the original MSI file.  Bentley stores the command line to do the uninstall in the registry.

• open regedit
  • browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
  • Search for the projectwise product you want to uninstall (probably stored under a GUID keyname)
  • Find the UninstallString registry entry for that produc
• the uninstall string still has the /i used by msiexec for an install, change that to a /x, add a /qn for a quiet uninstall
• The guid in the uninstall string will be the same on all machines using that version of the product (I think it only changes for major changes such as 2004, XM and V8i)

For example, to uninstall ProjectWise Explorer V8i:

MsiExec.exe /qn /x{300E66AB-FBA2-4613-8F7B-F98CB84D327F}

the only time I've found this doesn't work is if the user has cleaned a bunch of stuff from the c:\windows directory that they shouldn't have.

We are installing PW Explorer V8i on client computers using Microsoft Installer Technology,But not able to install with specific features like MS office application as users dont want MS office integration.TIA

So the problem in your case is that ProjectWise Explorer V8 XM Edition.msi is NOT reachable. In order uninstall PWE successfully you must make ProjectWise Explorer V8 XM Edition.msi reachable.

We are trying to uninstall the product through command prompt.The script we are using is "C:\>msiexec /x "\\server IP address\d:\projectwisesetup-client\08090450en\pwxplore\ProjectWise Explorer V8 XM Edition.msi" /qn.The Projectwise file is not reachable.We are using windows 2003 server to uninstall on client computers working under windows XP.The other products installed are microstation and bentley view.HTH,Sultan

Could you, please, provide more details about uninstall? Such as the scrip you are using. Is ProjectWise Explorer V8i.msi file still reachable when you trying to uninstall PWE? What windows are you using? What other PW product are installed on the machine?
