Stephen,
Thank you for the reply. Typo's will be the death of me. Our current version is 08.09.04.89
We must be doing something wrong when uploading the files. What procedure shuld we follow to import files without changing the "File Updated" attribute?
Roger
Roger,
For you first question: This has been fixed in 08.08.99.71 and later,
For you second question: Setting Final Status to file does indeed make it read only to everyone, however you can create a ProjectWise user with permissions to remove final status, which would allow for a file to be modified. Generally anyone in the ProjectWise administrators group would be able to do this. Additionally you could also set up a workflow state that would set the files to readonly, I would suggest looking into using workflow states to control file access.

ProjectWise V8 XM Edition - Version 08.08.04.89 - Commercial Release
Hello all.
We have a situation on every project where we need to upload files from various clients or outside consultants. These files do change from time to time and need to be re-uploaded to the server.
A few issues we are having are;
1.) When we bring a file into ProjectWise the file time and date changes. There is still the "created" date which remains static, however if possible (and easy) we would prefer the "modified" date to also remain static. The concern is potential liability issues from using files that we have "modified" in some way, when in fact, all we did was bring them into ProjectWise so they could be referenced into other ProjectWise files.
Is there a work around for this or information I may be missing?
2.) We sometimes need to make ProjectWise files as "read only" for all users. My understanding of ProjectWise is for this to happen, a file must be tagged as "Final". Our IT department has stated that the only way to remove that tag is for IT to handle it, which would be extremely cumbersome. These files are sometimes updated daily by clients or consultants. Additionally, the person who originally uploaded a file, may not be the one who needs to update/overwrite it.
Is there a simpler way for a non-IT person, or person who otherwise needs no additional permissions, to place files in ProjectWise as "read only"? and have that person still retain the permissions to later delete or overwrite said file? In Windows, a person could simply right click a file to change it's attribute to read-only. This would removed the ability to make accidental modifications.
Any help is appreciated.
