Jeff,
Your suggestion to check which program IPLOT was using for the Engine solved it! Now I feel foolish. I had forgotten that I was using Bentley View XM as the IPLOT Engine, and hadn't updated the mslocal.cfg file for View. I just updated it and now my plots are looking normal.
Thanks for the assistance,
Carl
Carl,
What method did you use to move your shared workspace files to a new location?
You can do a quick test. Start up a command prompt and cd to the MicroStation product directory. Then enter:
ustation -wu<workspace_name> -wp<project_name> design_file
where workspace_name and project_name are just like you are supply to IPLOT. If this works, then IPLOT should find and use your workspace and project properly. If you are redirecting your workspace root using other means (like ustation command line argument -wr) then you'll need to tell IPLOT to use this setting as well via iplot.cfg:
# IPLOT_MSENGINE_OPTIONS specifies additional MicroStation command # line arguments that IPLOT should use when invoking MicroStation # during IPARM creation and metafile generation. If this variable # is set, IPLOT appends the value string to the command line that # launches MicroStation. # # Note: IPLOT does not validate the contents of the string. If the # string contains invalid MicroStation command line arguments, # MicroStation may fail to launch. # # By default, this variable is not set.
# IPLOT_MSENGINE_OPTIONS =
Also, if you have multiple MicroStations on your computer, be sure that IPLOT has been told which one to use. This is done through Start->Programs->Bentley->ProjectWise InterPlot Utilities->ProjectWise InterPlot Organizer Configure. Select Integrate... and then confirm that the correct MicroStation is designated as the IPLOT Engine for processing the plots.

Prav,
Yes, I have specified the workspace settings in Organizer. For all of my sheets, the User Workspace and Project Workspace are set.
I also used the new settings files that came with IPLOT XM and added the customizations from our previous version. This system has been working fine for quite a while. Again, the only recent change (which was as a result of preparing for deploying MicroStation XM) was to reconfigure the network workspace folders. I'm sure all of the workspace settings are correct because I can still plot successfully to my printers through the IPLOT dialog. It's only when I try to generate PDFs from the dialog, or do anything from Organizer, that the fonts get all messed up.
Have you tried specifing the workspace name inside of the IPLOT dialog or Organizer? This forces a particular workspace to be used rather than the default. In the IPLOT dialog, you would use the File>Set Workspace command. In Organizer, workspace information can be specified using the "General" tab of the Property Page for the desired files.
Also, perhaps worth noting, is that when you upgrade to a new version of InterPlot by loading the new version on top of your old version, your iplot.cfg is not overwritten. This means you may not have access to any of the new variables; however, a iplot.def file is delivered with the product. This file contains the current set of variables, including the new ones that may have been added. You can copy variables from that file into your iplot.cfg if there are ones you want to use.
If none of the above resolves your issue and you don't get any other responses, you may want to contact Technical Support.

Using PW Interplot Organizer Client (v 08.09.04.73).
Recently, I can't get Organizer to find and use my font resources when printing from Organizer or when making PDFs either from Organizer or from the IPLOT dialog. I rely on IPLOT to use the MicroStation workspace settings to get the font resources. This has been working without a hitch for the past couple of years.
The only recent change we made was to mpve some of our shared workspace files (including the font resources) to a new folder location. I have updated all of the MicroStation configuration files to point to this new location, and MicroStation finds the font resources with no problems. I've gone through the various IPLOT configuration files and cannot find any direct references to the location of resource files (as I mentioned above, IPLOT relies on the MicroStation workspace settings to get the font resources).
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks, Carl Von Stetten
