BRT Regression Without A Center Line

Hi all

I have been given a list of approx 200 XYZ co-ordinates which represents the edge of a road.

I want to import these co-ordinates into Bentley Rail Track and use the regression tools to create a circular arc a transitions etc.

The problem is that the only experience I have using regression in BRT is to import 2 rails, then create an existing center line and then a design center line where the design center line contains my regression points, from which I can start using the regression tools single and multiple regression.

Can anyone explain how I can use the regression tools but with just a list of XYZ co-ordinate but without creating center lines

Thanks

I have attached a smaple of the points i which to import and regress.

  • You can import points to Horizontal/Vertical regression points with "Text import wizard" tool. And then use single/multiple regression as you know for designing alignment.

Ask if you need more details!

    Thanks Hrvoje

For reasons i cannot explain when i import the points using the Text import Wizard only about half the points are imported???

I have attached a text file which contains all the points i want to import. When i try and import the points not all of them import and i do not know why - can you help?

Also i try and add the points into the co-go buffer, when i do i get a message to say that all the points have been imported however when I select the co-go buffer under Geometry Projects no points are shown/displayed.

This is kind of driving me crazy.

  • Hello,

you can check in Tools>Variable Manager variable named: Geometry - Disable COGO points in Explorer
If the variable manager is not there then check it in Tools>Application add-ins

  • Hi Jpln

I have unchecked Disable CoGo points in Explorer, saved the settings, exited the software and opened it back up and still the points which i have imported into the buffer do not show.

I have even checked Disable CoGo points in Explorer to see if that would make a difference but it has not. Is there any other setting that would conflict with the ability to show CoGo points in Explorer?

  • I am not aware of any issue displaying the COGO points in the explorer. Did you try to create one or more points using Geometry>Cogo points and see what happens ?

  • Hi Jpln
It seems that the problem is related to the version of Bentley rail Track I am using.
I tried to view co-go points on a class mates computer who had upgraded to windows 7 and a higher version number of Bentley rail Track and it works.
I am waiting to have the update roll out on my computer so hopefully I wont be experiencing as many problems.
    Thanks

  • Ok. So let me know if you have issue in the new version. Even in the past and older version I never faced such issue.
