Hi,
I am working on a rail project currently where i need to recreate alignment of an existing railway line. I used regression tools for doing the same. I imported the survey data which has centreline of tracks as polylines. Converted poly line to Horizontal geometry. Then using option Geometry-> Utilities -> Assign Names, created points for regression. Added the points to Regression points and when i use "Horizontal Curvature Diagram Option" the PRT engine takes very long time and creates a diagram which is very much lengthier than the centre line. Can any one please point me out what is going wrong and the right way to do it.
Thank you for your attention. I am uploading the alg file of the existing tracks centre line with which i am having the problem.https://communities.bentley.com/cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/5921/Regress.alg
(BRT V08.11.07.685, on MS, SS 2)
I am attaching the file again. The Alignment is released. But the Access has changed to Read only.

Your regression points are mixed up. If you use View Regression Points you can see the network from your sorted line.
Try to add it from cogo points.
Use Import>Geometry chose Type: Cogo, and then in Add Regression Points set some properties like this:
Use your first 2 points for First point, and Second point :)

You can see when I add your regression points from cogo, the sorted line consistently connect all the points:
