How to display existing track gauge at 5m interval in the model?

Hello all

I was hoping if someone could help me with displaying the existing track gauge in BRT.

I have a two line railway on a curve both of which has 40mm of cant on a track gauge of 1435mm.

I want to display the existing track gauge at 5m intervals.

The only command in BRT that almost does the job is the View Track Centres Command. However the only problem with this command is that it displays the existing track gauge as 1434.442 because this command appears to measure the track gauge between the rails in true X&Y i.e. it measures the track gauge as if there was no cant. Whereas I need the track gauge to be measured and displayed in plane of rail.

Can anyone help?

Thank you.

  • Hi Jpln

After a lot of playing around I did manage to display the existing gauge using your instructions, so thank you.

The only issue I have got is that for some reason when I create a Transverse Feature (design Surface) graphic only, two transverse feature lines are displayed and I do not understand why?

See below of the two transverse feature lines that is created -do you have any idea why 2 lines are created?

  • Maybe because you picked a rail as reference element to create the transverse. I can also get 2 lines in the curves when using a rail (line string). If using a complex chain created above the center line then it is ok.
Another way could be to create the Rail in 3D in a surface, create cross sections and use the command cross section to surface to get the cross section as breaklines in the surface. Then annotate the features (like when they are coming from transverse). It is also a good method because you can accurately control the cross section intervals.
