  • Hello!

You have 2 alignments right. HA+VA.

You can try to import rails as graphics.

But if you have correct rails alignments, the problem must be in convert rails to centerline dialog box:

Chek you didn't checked "Add Vertical Regression Buffer Only" - it will create only regression points!

And you must check  "Create" under Vertical Alignment - if not checked will not create Vertical Alignment!

Can you post your rails to investigate :)

  • Purpose draw rail existing profile... low level

    the steps i do.

1- text import wizard  ---->for horizontal alignment and Vertical alignment   2 alignmente= Lr and Rr

2- chekintegrity all Horz. and Vert. ok

    3-Conver Center Line...like you sad.

4- chekintegrity ... Horz. OK but Vertical only zeros 0

    My workflow is:

    1. Import survey data

    2. Add code SRVY on all points and ST (start line) on fist one. The SRVY code is for communication whit the style. You must have style that have switched on survey, and added code SRVY in codes

    3. Write survey data to graphics

    4. Select and import LR and RR as Horizontal and Vertical alignment

    4. Convert rails to centerline, add to regression buffer only.

    5. Export points Name Northing Easting Elevation

    6. Import as survey data

    7. Write survey data to graphics. This time on code, on first point add PC (point of curve). The full code in my case is SRVY ST PC on the fist point, and SRVY on all others points. This creates best fit to the existing centerline. The Write survey data to graphics menu uses the Chord Height value (in my case 0.001) if the curve have chord greatest than 0.001 will add extra point in the graphics. In "Write survey data to graphics" chose to stroke horizontal and vertical.

    8. Select the graphics and Import as "Horizontal and Vertical alignment"

    9. Copy Cant from the alignment that "Convert rails to centerline" command created.

In my opinion this workflow is the best way to create centerline. You can use this alignment to create reports to annotate in longitudinal and cross sections. But the bad thing is that you can't use annotation in plan (curve data, PT PC CS SC etc.) because it creates many straight elements...
