Auto Tracking Rail Track Data of an Item

Dear Forum,

id like to set BRT Signal items with Text Data that can update themselves once this item is repositioned. If i had a signal at Chainage 13+450, Offset 2.85, etc, id like to associate some text to the item so that if it moved to Ch: 13+600, the text would auto update with regard to the Alignment/ALG file its associated to. is that possible?

  • It has been a while but I believe I did something like this using an Event point. I think you can add an event point at a specific station and then you can set up a label for event points that will label the signal how you like. You should then be able to update the station of the event point and relabel with ease. Sorry this isn't too specific but it should get you going in the right direction.
  • i had a look at event point. that seems to be a Stationing tool which can call out specific items enroute of the alignment.

i was more after something like the placement of text where you can insert a Field Type of the Element Properties which updates automatically once that item the text is associated to the element. Id like something similar that reports Stationing and offsets of the alignment it was placed against
  • I think event points could be an answer as it is automatically updated as well as data annotated at event points. The issue is that you have to deal with the annotation that is available, you can't create your own text.
This is something that can be done also with MicroStation where you can use element information as text. If the element changes the information is updated. The problem is that most often the rail track element is not changed but deleted and created, so the link is broken. Depending on what you want to achieve, Rail Track SS4 can go further with the design intent capture. You are then able to link an element to an alignment and annotate the element using standard MicroStation functions.
