What are Cardinal Points & Cardinal Stationing?

Question

Hi all 
 
 I was wondering if someone could explain the terms 
 
 - Cardinal Points 
 - Cardinal Stationing 
 
 I often see these option in various BRT menus however i do not know what they do could someone explain? 
 
 I goggled the terms but google returns with " each of the four main points of the compass (north, south, east, and west).

Cardinal points is the main points of your alignment: 
Horizontal: 
TS - Tangent Spiral 
SC - Spiral Curve 
CS - Curve Spiral 
ST - Spiral Tangent 
Vertical: 
PVC - Point of Vertical Curve (I guess) 
PVT - Point of Vertical Tangent (I guess) 
 
In this dialog it means that this points are added in addition to your the 15m interval.
