Moving PI by maintainning one of the two directions, how?

I'm often in a situation that I need to moved a PI-point by following one of the two tangent-directions. It would be perfect, if I could f.ex. push the <ctrl> key down while moving the point. Is there a way to achieve that in the current PowerCivil / Power RailTrack versions, maybe in future? This function would be very welcome for both horizontal and vertical editing.

Best regards,

LiPeng from Denmark.

  • There is no way to do that graphically (there may be a way to do it with Accu-draw, but I'm not an Accu-draw person!), but in Define Horizontal Curve Set the Define By Direction and Distance from Previous PI option. A similiar option is avaiable for vertical.

  • I can recomend to use Nudge.

Or you can use Multiple Element Regression Analysis, start by your first tangent, that you want to be fixed direction. It's good because you can measure perpendicular distances from the temporary solved solutions :)

  • A bit late, but hope it can help or give some idea

  • If using Civil Geometry (Rail Track SS4) it is easier

  • Hi Richard, Aleksandar and Jpln, thank you for your answers. I found the solution with Accudraw in Jpln's post to be the easiest way to achieve this, but maybe it is time for me to move on to SS4 :).

Happy new year to you all!
