Is there any way to turn off the property references (R1, R2 etc. ) in STAAD.Pro? I have tried to turn the labels off but it does not seem to work.

Normally you can right click and choose Labels and turn off any label or turn off display for an entity from within the Diagrams dialog box as seen in the picture below.

However depending on which page you are in, certain labels or display options are always turned on by default. For example if you are within the Properties page, the property references like R1, R2 etc. are turned on by default. Even if you right click > Go to Labels > Choose None option for the Properties and click on OK, it will still not remove the labels as the default settings would prevent the Property Reference labels from being removed when you are within the Property page . However you can override the default setting. In addition to choosing the None option from under the Properties, you also need to choose the option “Always Use Current Label Settings” as shown in the screenshot below and click on OK and then the property references will be removed.

Same is applicable for other pages too. For example if you would like to turn the Supports off from the display, while you are in the Support page, simply un-checking the Supports (S) option from within Labels > Nodes is not enough. You would also need to choose the option “Always Use Current Label Settings” and click on OK to turn the display off for the supports.
