 How to move a node or group of nodes by a certain distance?

The Move Nodes tool can be used to quickly move a node or group of nodes by a certain distance in the global X, Y, or Z direction.  This can be useful for a variety of reasons but is particularly handy because the structural entities defined by the nodes being moved (beams, plate elements, etc.) will similarly move to preserve connectivity. 

To use this tool, follow the steps below:

1. Use the Node Cursor to select the node(s) of interest. 

2.  Go to the Geometry tab at the top of the screen, then expand the Move Node menu downward and select "Move Nodes":

3. The Move Entities dialog box will appear.  Enter the desired positive or negative distance value in the X, Y, or Z direction.  Check the "Retain Connections" box if you want the connectivity preserved, then click OK to complete the process:
