Use the Copy Preference tool. (Tools > Copy Preference) If the command is not located under Tools, the command is an Application Add-in.
Open the *.XIN file in InRoads that will hold the “new” styles. Tools > Copy Preference > search for the second *.XIN file > select the styles/preferences that needs to be copied over to the opened *.XIN file > Apply.
The main reason the platform is not found is when the versions of the platform and InRoads is not compatible.
For example: InRoads is not compatible with AutoCAD on a 64 bit OS. So, InRoads would not find a CAD platform in this situation. Another example is if MicroStation XM was installed with InRoads V8i SELECTseries 2. These two products are not compatible with each other and the CAD platform would not be found…
InRoads Survey does not offer this option under the Import Surface command.
Workaround: display the 3D alignment using Geometry > View Geometry > 3D Alignment and then run the Remove User Data (Tools > Remove User Data) on the alignment. Run the Import Surface command on the graphics. (If Remove User Data is not available, it’s located under the Application Add-ins command.)
Rename surface command will not resolve this situation. The Copy Portion of Surface command must be ran so that the GUID number changes for the surface.
If the surface in question has no breaklines, only random points, one possible solution is that on the Advanced tab of the Surface Properties dialog, the "Use Features Only" option is toggled on. This option alters the display characteristics of surfaces in cross sections so that the surface data line is displayed between points extracted only from breakline features in the surface. Since, there are no breaklines in the…
In order for the "Export Cross Section" tab to be visible, it must be enabled. First go to Tools > Application Add-Ins and make sure that the Variable Manager is enabled. Then go to Tools > Variable Manager and toggle on “LandXML Translator – Enable Cross Section”. InRoads must be restarted for this change to take effect.
Why don't my end conditions intersect my surfaces in cross-sections exactly? They are either slightly too short in places or slightly overlap. As a rule of thumb, templates should be dropped at the same interval used to cut cross-sections. If two different intervals are used, the two surfaces may not intersect exactly on cross-sections that are cut where no template drop exists. Additionally, if cutting cross-sections…
Problem: I have one IRD file with multiple corridors referring to multiple alignments placed in separate files. When I open single alignment to work with IRD file, InRoads pops up with result errors (missing alignments to other corridors. How do I switch off this notification about errors, which aren't errors at all? Reports lock does not work.
Solution: When you open your IRD all corridors within that IRD are looking…

Problem: Is there a way to convert an element(s) that have been drawn in MicroStation into an alignment element or can I convert multiple elements (drawn in MicroStation) that are connected into an alignment? There are times when MicroStation is used to do a preliminary design using tangent lines.
Solution: Add your graphic to a selection set. Within Import Geometry> From Graphics select; Resolve Gaps, Join Elements…
Problem: An alignment was created from existing random cogo points, how can these points in the alignment be re-numbered to a new number sequence?
Solution: Geometry>Utilities>Assign Names. Select Alignments radio button then click in the field beneath Name (Filter on the right becomes active). Select Filter and the Alignment to be renumber, add the alignment from Available to Select column, and then OK. Select…
The creation of an alternate surface begins in the template. Within each template that makes up the corridor, edit the points for which the alternate surface will be comprised. If the bottom of the component consists of points: LEOP_B, CL_B and REOP_P, each point must be edited. At Alternate Surface: key-in a name for the alternate surface and Apply. Once the alternate surface name has been added for the first point,…
