  • Thanks Bob!

Is this the upcoming Select Series 1 you are referring to?

  • Yes.  In the soon to be released Civil Platform Geometry tools we have made strides to support Bsplines as civil elements. Civil Platform Geometry creates Microstation elements (with intellignence) instead of external cogo database.  The "civil" elements add rules to the graphic elements to make them intellignent.  But you can also use ordinary graphic elements (including bsplines) as part of your workflow.  For example, you could create a spline as beginning of an exit ramp and use this spline as the back tangent element for a curve to create your ramp.

The caveat? for the moment, all these Civil Platform elements must be fed into the native civil applications (MX, InRoads or GEOPAK) to continue vertical and other design.  So any spline limitations in those cogo databases will still apply.  Over time, these limitations should be eliminated.

  • Any plans to implement B Splines as a linear feature? Obviously there are lines and curves but so many things are not perfectly linear or an exact arc radius. The B Spline by points would be the most obvious solution to this rather then a series of chords connecting the points.
