Temperature Load application in STAAD Pro. V8i

Hi,

I am currently working on a project in Australia wherein we have modelled a water retaining tank using plates elements. We are required to run temperature analysis for this tank considering differential temperatures on inside face and outside face of the tank. .I have modelled the plates with local axis z along the thickness of the plate.Could you please provide me guidance as to which temperature load parameter needs to be used, whether if is f1 or f2 or f4 or a combination of either to get the desired axial and flexural deformations in the plate.

Thanks,

  • If it is only the temperature gradient that you wish to consider between the inside face and the outside face of the tank, you need to specify f2. f4 is only for member elements. For plate elements, you can consider only f1 and f2. In case, you need to consider a uniform temperature, differenent from the ambient stress-free condition, you need to specify f1.
