RAM Frame - Overlapping Node Numbers in Plan View

 Product(s):RAM Structural System; RAM Frame
 Version(s):Any
 Environment: N/A
 Area: Analysis; Graphics

Problem Description

In plan view within Ram Frame - Analysis mode, showing node numbers (View - Node Numbers) sometimes causes nodes above or below the plan to also show making it hard to read.

Reason

In order to show the nodes from a single plan view, the program uses a cut plane above and below that story. When stories are close together this sometimes causes nodes above or below the plane to still show. Sloped levels, levels with hanging columns and levels with partial height vertical braces (aka knee braces) can also cause problems.

Steps to Resolve

In some cases the problem can be resolved by using low resolution (View - Resolution - Low) also called line mode.

Using a 3D view with limited vertical extents can also work (View - Extents). Rotate the 3D view using Ctrl+Left mouse button [hold and drag] or the arrow keys. If an angle can be found where the node numbers are mostly legible, print that view.

The other work-around is use the printed Report - Model Data which includes a listing of the node numbers and coordinates at the end.
