Background

The Create Family tool is used to create and modify device families. Click the Help button on the New/Modify Family dialog for details about family creation.

To use the Create Family tool

* is used to denote a menu selection that is not necessary in some versions or platforms.

Option 1

1. Select Manage > *Component Management > Create Family.
2. On the resulting New/Modify Family dialog, click the New button to create a new family or click the Open button to modify an existing family.

Option 2

1. Find a family in [[Catalog Manager]].
2. Right-click the family and choose New to create a new family or Modify to modify the selected family.  A new family can also be created based on the selected family by selecting Modify and then saving with a new Family name.
