Streamlining Information Flow throughout the Bridge Lifecycle

The problem of aging infrastructure is brought to the forefront when events such as tragic bridge collapses occur, and highlight the need to consider sustainability in all phases of the bridge infrastructure lifecycle.

The Bridges community will appeal to users who participate in one or more aspects of the bridge lifecycle: planning, design, fabrication, construction, or operations and maintenance.

The community will be focusing on Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM) an evolution in the bridge engineering process that is designed to "bridge" the gaps in the bridge engineering workflow and ensure efficient and timely access to critical information for all participants throughout the lifecycle. By eliminating redundant data entry and centering Bentley bridge applications around a core 3D physical bridge model, BrIM will provide efficiencies that result in significant savings for bridge owners and operators.

Community members are welcome to discuss critical issues we face today to design and maintain our bridges, and review such topical issues as Public-Private Partnership projects (P3) and other business models that extend beyond design to maintenance of traffic, constructability, and risk mitigation.
