Bentley Building Mechanical Systems (BBMS) allows users to define the auto placement of many types of fittings to help reduce the time it takes to model an HVAC System. The steps are very simple and can be controlled by each user* (see note below).
Let's take a look at an example of setting a Mitered Elbow as our default fitting.
2. "Right Click" on the left hand side of the DataGroup Instance Data dialog box under the CustomParamRectElbow and Select "Set as Default AutoFitting Option".
Your Mitered Elbow will now be your DEFAULT elbow when placing ductwork. To return to a Rectangular Elbow just select Rectangular Elbow and repeat the process. It's that easy ! These steps work for many other BBMS catalog items too. Give them a try !
*NOTE: Many of our users are using a network solution where items such as catalogs and configurations are locked on their network in order to adhere to company and or project standards. The Configuration Variable BMECHDIR_AUTOFITTING_OPTIONS points to the location of the AutoFittingOptions.xml file. This file should be re-located to the users local drive to allow for each user to set different default fittings as a project requires. Please consult your BIM manager for assistance in setting this variable.
