PVGen Pro 3D - Pressure Vessel Generator in ProSteel

PVGEN Pro 3D is an software solution for engineering and manufacturing of Pressure Vessels. This unique industry solution is built on ProSteel 3D technology for AutoCAD and specifically targets companies that use COMPRESS, a leading pressure vessel design software by Codeware, Inc.

PVGEN Pro 3D allows users to rapidly generate an intelligent 3D AutoCAD based model of any pressure vessel by reading the vessel geometry and specifications from the equivalent COMPRESS file. The 3D model contains all the geometric and material properties specified in COMPRESS model. Once the 3D model is generated the user can further refine it by directly editing various components, modifying clearances and adding items such as miscellaneous steel using ProSteel's native features.

From the 3D vessel model the user can obtain the following:

  • Bill of materials including the vessel and structural steel components along with a nozzle schedule
  • 2D drawings including layout drawings cross sectional views and shop drawings
  • CNC data output to various machines including Vernon Tool Pipe Cutting Machines, industry used beam lines such as Peddinghaus and plate cutters
Editing capabilities

PVGEN Pro 3D is built on ProSteel 3D technology. ProSteel's sophisticated editing tools allow the user to edit or add supporting steel as well as miscellaneous steel. Dynamic ladders, platforms, handrails, catwalks plus an impressive library of connections come standard with the PVGEN Pro 3D.

In addition, the user can at any point edit nozzles including locations and orientations.

Bill of materials and nozzle schedule

Bills of materials and cut lists can be generated at will. This can be in the form of a report or as a table. The report can be placed in the drawing in a user defined table form or generated externally to a file. File formats supported include *.dbf, *.xml, *.csv etc. The application comes with a powerful report writer that allows the user to fully customize the report output appearance and content including user defined formulas. PVGEN Pro 3D also produces a detailed nozzle report.

Component numbering and positioning

PVGEN Pro 3D automatically assigns part numbers to every vessel component as it is being generated. The user can control piece number formats including assigning prefixes and suffixes. The application detects identical components and optionally assigns the same piece mark number.

The program can also assign piece mark number to all miscellaneous and support steel added by the user after the vessel is generated.

Drawing generation

PVGEN PRO 3D uses ProSteel 3D's powerful detail center functionality in order to generate and refresh 2D layout drawings, section and erection drawings as well as part drawings. Depending on complexity, the 2D drawings produced can include full or partial annotations.

The 2D AutoCad drawings produced by the detail center remains linked to the model allowing the user to refresh the 2D drawing, as opposed to redraw, any time that the 3D model is changed.

CNC compatibility

PVGEN Pro 3D allows the user to produce different types of drawings by communicating with various beam drill lines via the DSTV format which is compatible with Peddinghaus, Control Automation, Ocean Machinery, Ficep -  to name a few

PVGEN Pro 3D can also generate the *.pmp files required by Vernon Tool Pipe Cutting Machines for machining of the cutout required in the cylinder components for nozzle placement. Communication with plate cutters is done via layered dxf output files. However, Vernon Tool interface is not sold as a part of PVGen Pro 3D and must be purchased as a separate module.

PVGenPro 3D is sold as a Service module by Bentley because in most of the cases company-specific customizations are required for implementation. Please contact George Ajami (George.Ajami@bentley.com ) or Sam Mukherjee (Sam.Mukherjee@bentley.com) for more information.
