What is Bentley Geo Web Solutions V8i?

Bentley Geo Web Solutions is a Web services framework that can be used to integrate interactive maps in a website, or to integrate geospatial information in organizational workflows using industry standards. Geospatial specialists are empowered to prepare geo-services for webmasters, allowing them to easily add geospatial content to internal and external Web sites.

Software Prerequisites

Geo Web Solutions V8i (SELECTseries 1) will work in combination with the following software:

The Geo Web Solutions Administrator and the GWS Webservices are .NET applications. To use these components you will need to install the .NET Framework.	.NET Framework version 2.0

Bentley Systems cannot guarantee that the software will work correctly, when the above described prerequisites are not met.

Licensing

The Geo Web Solutions V8i (SELECTseries 1) licensing mode has been updated to the Bentley SELECTserver V8i version. There is no Fleximap.lic file anymore.

Trial period

Geo Web Solutions V8i (SELECTseries 1) has a thirty (30) days trial licensing mode.

In this section the most important new functionality and changes / bug fixes are described and briefly explained. This list of features should not be interpreted as a complete list of all new and/or changed functionality.

BeGWS Web Services

The most exciting new functionality in Geo Web Solutions is the introduction of SOAP services: the BeGWS Web Services.

These Web Services allow for complete integration of Geographic Web Services in Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).

Geo Web Solutions Administrator

The Administrator has been expanded to include the configuration of all the new features. Many configuration panels have been completely redesigned, resulting in a more friendly and easy to use configuration tool.

Geo Web Solutions Flash Client

It is now possible to load flash without the visible toolbar. This allows you to create your own HTML toolbar with your own look and feel.

Resolved Issues in Geo Web Solutions

The following issues have been resolved in this version:

Application	Description
Server	When using some specific ISAPI services, like GetMap with keyinfo on an Oracle spatial layertype, the number of Oracle connections kept increasing, resulting in a non responsive database.
Flash Client	Mouse pointer not visible on index map. This was due to changed behavior of index map. In this version behavior is configurable.
Flash Client	Buttons to the far left and right sometimes almost not clickable.
GWS Administrator	Many TRs and CRs have been addressed in this version of the GWS Administrator.

ISAPI Service	o Authenticated WMS services can be used. o ISAPI plug-in can now be installed in a path that contained spaces.
.NETservices	o Support for SHP layers for KML/GeoJSON publishing. o Support for WMS Layers for retrieving attribute information. For this purpose a new request called getWMSFeatureInfo has been added. o Log file for the BeGWS .NET Web Services made independent from the ISAPI log file. o Structure of the response for the GWSServicesCapabilities request has been expanded (and slightly changed). o redlinestorage services: storing/creating geometries with > 500 points. o redlinestorage services: storing/creating multipolygon and donut polygon geometries when using Oracle spatial as a data format. o KML and GeoJSon services: publishing/streaming multipolygon and donut polygon geometries when using Oracle spatial as a data format.
Administrator	o LegendLayer configuration section improved. o Redlinestorage: added data field. o New layertypes (SHP and WMS) supported. o Retrieving layernames from an authenticated WMS service.
