Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as the Transportation Engineer you will be responsible for civil and wayside track design using Bentley Inrail and Microstation software. You will develop detailed track alignments for rubber tire rail vehicles, steel wheel metros, and monorails, and light rail vehicles.
In your role you will:
- Develop detailed track alignments including horizontal alignments with crossovers, switches, spiral and curved geometry, vertical alignments and graphically graded crossings;- Develop templates and sections for use in clearance envelope design;- Prepare design drawings, specifications, and criteria;- Partner with the Systems Integration and Performance Engineering groups to optimize alignments for system simulations;- Develop interfaces, specifications and project documentation for proposals and turnkey projects;- Contribute to and perform design reviews and document designs;- Execute all tasks as required and assigned.
Qualifications
As our ideal candidate:
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Highway Engineering; a Master’s degree will be considered an asset.- You possess at least five (5) years of experience in a similar civil or highway engineering position with alignment design experience;- You must demonstrate hands-on experience using Bentley Rail Track and Microstation software;- Permanent work authorization in the U.S. is required- You demonstrate the ability to operate independently while establishing strong working relationships with co-workers and cross-functional teams;- You possess strong organizational and prioritization skills;- You demonstrate critical attention to detail and deadlines, and are self-motivated;- You possess the ability to adapt well to change in direction and priorities in a project and deadline-oriented environment;- You demonstrate strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Travel advisory: The incumbent in this position must be able to travel domestically and/or internationally as required (less than 20%)
