New Bentley Events calendar: Is it a kind of bad joke?

Hi,

today I realized Bentley Events calendar has been redesigned and also my former link to webinars calendar is now redirected to this new page.

Seriously, is it a joke? Or it's some basic school UX training? It's just wasted space disaster and demonstration how to not design any page.

Ok, I understand, Bentley has expanded their activities and will sell earphones and there are plenty of videos about them. But where is any valuable information?

How can I see, in a simple list, arranged by date, what events and webinars are scheduled for e.g. next month?

Whereas in the past I was able to check what is available and to evaluate it in relation with my agenda in a second, no way to do it now without filtering events and writing dates somewhere else. Just disgusting, annoying and confusing. Zero user friendly access.

I am logged to tens of webs (e-shops, communities etc.) and this page is the only that complains about my web browser configuration. Sorry, maybe your big dream is to be Avast / Jumpshot follower and has become spying big brother, but not, I will not open my browser more than is enough for all other webs.
  • Where recorded sessions are available now? I tried to use some older links, but it seems the calendar with recorded videos was removed and I always ended at this ugly page.

With regards,

  • Hello Jan,
I had the chance to review your comments regarding our NEW events calendar: New Bentley Events calendar: Is it a kind of bad joke?

As you have noticed, we are in a transition period, changing many of our legacy systems and updating our processes that will grow as Bentley’s event offerings continue to expand.

To address a few of your concerns:

    • Today I realized Bentley Events calendar has been redesigned and also my former link to webinars calendar is now redirected to this new page. Correct! Our previous event pages were in a system that we are no longer using, so all pages.info.bentley links have been redirected to our Events overview page on Bentley.com.

    • Seriously, is it a joke? Or it's some basic school UX training? It's just wasted space disaster and demonstration how to not design any page. This is a BRAND NEW calendar option, that is pulling all physical and virtual events into a SINGLE calendar, with direct links to registration pages and tradeshow landing pages. Our previous search and registration process took folks from Bentley.com to a totally separate system that also acted as a pass-through, thus expanding the number of clicks the user had to endure in order to register or obtain event information. This is continually being worked on as it is a new concept that we developed with several vendors. Have no fear – we will continue to improve! As of today, this calendar is only 3 weeks old!

    • Ok, I understand, Bentley has expanded their activities and will sell earphones and there are plenty of videos about them. But where is any valuable information? If you notice, the current visuals are associated with our different event TYPES. The headsets represent webinars. The mic represents Bentley hosted events, etc… These are a temporary implementation. We are working on imagery to represent industry/brands. If you take the time to expand the event tiles, there is a ton of valuable information being displayed! See below – you have event type, title, date, time, and an in depth description!

     • How can I see, in a simple list, arranged by date, what events and webinars are scheduled for e.g. next month? This is an EASY question to answer! The calendar is arranged by event type and date. Select which filter option is most meaningful based on your needs and then the most recent event will appear 1st:

    • Whereas in the past I was able to check what is available and to evaluate it in relation with my agenda in a second, no way to do it now without filtering events and writing dates somewhere else. Just disgusting, annoying and confusing. Zero user friendly access. Give it a chance! We know that change is not easy, but it is indeed inevitable! We’re pleased with the progress that has been made with our NEW registration systems and calendars, but know that it takes time to get used to it all. We’re always here for support and can help you navigate should you continue to experience issues.

    Have a nice day.
    Lauren

  • this calendar is only 3 weeks old!

Hi Lauren, I don't supposes when you said "3 weeks old", you meant someone designed the Calendar from scratch 3 weeks ago? Because it certainly looks like an overnight job to me.

Have no fear – we will continue to improve!

A few things at first glance: list view is missing. I know tiles/grids is on trend, but please provide list view option.

Also, why the need for 2 scrollbars? At the moment I get 1 for the overall page, and 1 for the event section. Spoilt for choice.

  • Appreciate the feedback. We're making strategic improvements. If you'd like to take this conversation off of a public forum, I am more than happy to speak with you.
