For years we've been able to insert an image into a post on Be Communities. I do this often to post screenshots from MicroStation CONNECT on-line Help, from my own website and elsewhere.
Recently (spring 2020) the image insert process leads results in an icon, not my picture. Here's an example from MicroStation help...
It's the Reports dialog screenshot. If you click the icon you can pop the image, but that's not how it used to behave, nor how it should behave.
When an image is inserted into a post, it used to be by using an HTML img element. It's recently changed to use a [ View: ... :0:0] element whose syntax is specific to this web site (i.e. not standard HTML). Why?

Hi Jon,
For security reasons, we have recently disabled the ability to directly imbed remote (external link) images. if you would like to embed an image in a forum post, please save it locally first, then insert it into your post using the "File upload" option in the "From" dropdown from the Insert Image/Video/File dialog.
Apologies for the inconvenience.

Even your own images from MicroStation Help?

Yes, any embed to an existing URL (as opposed to using the option to upload the file to Communities).

Disappointing: hyperlinks are one of the motivations of the WWW!
External embeds could potentially be used for malicious purposes so this option was disabled for security purposes.
You can still link to the image as demonstrated in your initial post. If you would like to display the image directly in the post, please save it locally first, then insert it into your post. I realize this is an extra step you did not have to do before, but the security of our site is a top priority.
