You can find handouts to the sessions I did at the Be Together 2011 conference here:

Please note that I will not be posting the datasets.

What happens when you click on the Adobe PDF icon?

That's fine and takes me to a download button, but that's extra clicks and doesn't open the file without saving.. Why doesn't this site:

    1. Have "Save Target As" work as it should?

    2. Open the file without saving?

  • Mainly because the files are "wrapped" with ASPx pages on this system -- the file system itself is not directly accessible.

Seriously - why is this not standard practice in the company? The parsimonious attitude otherwise to providing documentation is the No.1 gripe not only from ourselves, but also from other Bentley customers that I know. Trying to find the workspace differences between one SS release and the other? Good luck with that.

By the way, one main "Bentley Blog" to collate the most relevant stuff would be a very welcome development (just don't let your marketing department near it, please).

  • There are several topics intertwined in your reply, and although this does start going a bit off-topic, let's see if we can address them in general.

WRT presentation materials, we are in the process of collating a number of Be Together session recordings and making them available on Be Connected. You should start seeing these show up within about a month after the conference.

Regarding product documentation, we do provide documentation for our products -- currently that is through modern means in electronic format. We have been and continue to work towards providing further capabilities, which most likely will include the ability for users to print their own documentation. The documentation itself continues to improve and is complemented with things like TechNotes and FAQs (many available on Be Communities), product ReadMes (linked from product download descriptions), training courses available via Bentley Institute, among other things.

About "relevant stuff"... that is most subjective. However, we are currently working on a project that will make delivering users to "relevant stuff" and having that "relevant stuff" delivered to users a reality. This is currently on schedule to make public appearance later this year.

Why? If most other sites can do it why not his one. Just makes sense - clicking the icon opens the file?
