With thanks to Alexander Molotov for creating this application called SDT Parts which enables users to easily decompose a design file.
Alexander writes:SDT Parts is available from http://www.mdlapps.com and provides the following functionality:SDT Parts was developed for MicroStation engineers, who want to decompose existing design files or need to extract some parts of design files for further use. For example this tool can be used for creation of MicroStation cells or AutoCAD blocks from existing drawings.
For example we have one design file and we want to create three separate cells or a DWG file from the elements of the source file. Surround the elements with shapes and enter the level into Shape Level field. Two parts Joined and Not Joined have names that are to become the output file names so the level of these text elements are entered in the Part Name Level field.
Next, the following fields need to be filled in:
When processed, we get the following separate files. Please note that all resulting parts are moved to xy=0,0,0 and the chamfered line is rotated as required.
