Hide elements by using named groups in a key-in
With thanks to Scott Harmon for sharing this awesome tip which was first published here:
ISOLATE is fantastic. Can we have a HIDE?
To hide elements by utilizing named group, first select the element you want to hide, then run this key-in from a function key or custom button. Tested on MicroStation V8i SS2.
namedgroup delete FirstSelection; namedgroup create FirstSelection; dx=0; choose all; choose group remove FirstSelection; displayset set; choose none;point ab
This keyin first deletes a named group called FirstSelection (if it exists). It then creates a named group called FirstSelection from the active selection set. Then a selection set of all elements is created and the named group is removed. The display set is set and the selection is released.
Note that this will only work if you have the display set view attribute enabled.
