Where is Bentley's STUDENTserver?
Answer -You can find STUDENTserver at http://apps.bentley.com/studentserver/home/index
What does STUDENTserver do?
Answer - STUDENTserver is your "one stop shop" for accessing all of the resources you are entitled to as a student in a school participating in Bentley's academic program. This includes software downloads, online training, training transcripts, visiting the Bentley Academic Community and more. Once you register for STUDENTserver, you decide on what you want to use or not use on the system. You can download software for use on your personal computer, take the online training anytime you have access to the internet, view your transcript and certificates for completed training, even rub elbows with working designers and engineers--all through one site: STUDENTserver.
Why do I need to Register for STUDENTserver to access its contents?
Answer- Via STUDENTserver, Bentley provides a comprehensive portfolio of professional software and training, equivalent to tens of thousands of US dollars in the commercial market.
By registering for STUDENTserver you create a personalized account, so that any training you complete is tracked (e.g. you can stop a video and resume at the same place at a later time) and then recognized on the professional training transcript and certificates under your name.
So if you are a student, request your School Code to register for Bentley's STUDENTserver from your professor, or department's IT professional, or from the Bentley Student Ambassador at your campus, and Register today!
Once you have registered for STUDENTserver, you have access to:

*onDemand learning materials (QuickStarts and other training materials)
*the ability to review, print, and Email your professional training Transcript or completed onDemand course, webinars and events you attended, etc. For each completed course on your Transcript, you can also click on the accompanying icon to print a Certificate!

How do I obtain my School Code to Register for STUDENTserver?
Answer - Your school provides this special code from Bentley, used to Register for STUDENTserver, to associate your personal account with the school. Each school distributes the code via one of many channels. It may be posted on the school's internal web site, provided to you by your professor via email, or some other communication method.
What information do I have to provide to join STUDENTserver?
Answer - You must provide the School Code (as described above), your Email address (preferably your school issued one, but not mandatory), First Name, and Last Name. Once you have provided all of this information, you will get an email to set up your password; you can then login to your account, which gives you full access to STUDENTserver, Bentley LEARNserver and Bentley Communities.
When I enter my email address on STUDENTserver, I get an "Invalid E-mail, please try again" error - but I know I entered my correct email. What do I do?
Answer - In some instances, you may already have a user name on STUDENTserver. It may have been created for you, especially if you attended a Bentley event, took online training as part of a previous school class or you downloaded any of the free Bentley software. But, don't worry! Instead of going through the Register button, simply click the Sign In button and enter your email and password. As soon as you click the "Download Software" or "Take Online Training" sections of STUDENTserver, you will be asked to enter the all-important School Code provided by your school. Once you enter this code, you will have full access to the STUDENTserver and all of its resources.

How do I download software from STUDENTserver?
Answer – In order to download software, first login to STUDENTserver and then click Download Software. On the next page enter the software name in the search bar and download. Or, you can use the various filters on the left (Product Line, Brand, Language, etc), to find what you need.
Note: don't forget to activate the software, using the "Site Activation Key"--which is located at the top of the Download software page, to the right of the orange arrow. This is the license, which you must enter during the software installation process, to ensure the software continues to run after the short evaluation period ends.
What is a Site Activation Key and why do we need it when downloading software from STUDENTserver?
Answer – the Site Activation Key is needed to activate your software, when using the Installation Wizard to install the software on your computer. If the Download page does not show the Site Activation Key, please contact your College Admin, Student Ambassador or drop us an email at academic@bentley.com
How do I take Online Training?
Answer - Login to STUDENTserver, and click on Take Online Training. Choose a Product Category on the left, and then click on the Product Name. A new window will open up, with a recommended Student Learning Path. Click on "Find Training" under each section, to view the options, and click "Launch" on the right-hand side of any line to start that course.
Can I use the Bentley software and license I got from STUDENTserver to work on projects outside of school?
Answer - You can use the software to work on academic projects for school, while off campus. However, you can not use the software for commercial projects (for example, for professional projects you work on for a company where you are an intern). The software is provided as a benefit of Bentley’s academic program and is exclusively for use as part of your school work. The software is labeled "For Academic Use Only" in the product's title bar and all print output (in a non-intrusive manner.) If you intern at a commercial engineering or design company or agency they must provide you with a commercial copy of Bentley software. The good news is there are no features disabled in the STUDENTserver provided version of the software so your knowledge of the product transfers easily to the commercial work environment.

What web browsers are best for using STUDENTserver?
Answer –Although you can use other web browsers we would recommend using Chrome and Firefox.
What if I get a run time error while logging in to the STUDENTserver?
Answer – follow these steps:
Clear the browser cache and close browser
If this doesn't work, write your issue on the Academic Forum in Bentley Communities, mentioning your school name and email address, and our team will get back to you with a solution.
Can my friend use my STUDENTserver credentials to train on Bentley products?
Answer – No, because the training transcript and certificates are issued to the person whose account has been used to login to STUDENTserver. Hence it is strongly advised that your friend uses his or her own credentials to access the STUDENTserver.
After I enter my credentials, I keep getting kicked out of STUDENTserver and must login again. Why does this happen?
Answer – Check if anyone else in your class or school is also facing the same error. If so, take a screen shot of the error and email it, along with details of the steps you took, to academic@bentley.com .Our team will look into the issue and get back to you with a solution.
When I enter my school code, it says invalid school code. What do I do next?
Answer- Make sure there are no spaces in the school code you are entering, including extra spaces at the end (if you copied and pasted in the code).
If you continue to see the error, send an email to academic@bentley.com with your name, your school's name, and the School Code you tried to use. Our team will get back to you with the correct code.
If I cannot locate the product I am interested in on the STUDENTserver download product list, what do I do?
Answer - It is possible that some products are not available via the Academic portfolio on STUDENTserver. Refer to the list of included products at https://www.bentley.com/en/learn/for-students-and-educators/academic-programs/products-academic-select . If it is not listed, write to academic@bentley.com, mentioning you school name, what product you are looking for and for what project you intend to use it in. The team will then be in contact with you.
What is the Bentley Academic Community?
Answer - Bentley Communities is Bentley's professional and social network. It is a major resource for both academic and commercial users of all Bentley products. Bentley Communities enables a dialogue between users, as well as with Bentley colleagues. You'll find forums for most of Bentley's products where users ask and answer questions on topics from "how do I install..." to "I'm getting this error message". In addition, there are Tech Notes in product specific wikis and much more.

Where can I post my questions on issues faced on Bentley Products or any other queries?
Answer - Right here on Bentley Communities! If you click the Visit Bentley Academic Community link on STUDENT server home page you will be directed to a special landing page for students. Click the "Forums" link and check our Forums and Knowledge Articles for answers.
For questions specific to using a particular products: Click on "Products" near the top of the page, to be taken to a list of Product Communities. Then simply click on the Brand (product name) you have a question about and join that community to learn more!
Or, click "Support" near the top of the page to search for topics, solutions, or to submit a service request via the CONNECTION Center.
So, I'm allowed to post messages on Bentley Communities forums?
Answer - Absolutely! Over time you will find that Bentley's user community is very friendly and quick with an answer. Bentley colleagues also participate in the forums and often have additional information that may not be immediately apparent. With that said, it is not unusual to find a fellow user answering a question before a Bentley colleague has a chance to chime in.
