Computer Applications in Hydraulic Engineering (CAiHE) – 9th Edition Release
Bentley Institute Press’s all-time best-selling textbook returns with a fully updated ninth edition!

One of the most widely used books to teach hydraulics and computer modeling to engineering students is Bentley Systems, Computer Applications in Hydraulic Engineering (CAiHE). The first edition was published in 1997 by Haestad Methods, which was the leading company in hydraulics and hydrology modeling back then. Haestad Methods was acquired by Bentley Systems in 2004, and Bentley continued the tradition of updating and publishing CAiHE.
Today, many of the leading practitioners in water modeling received their first exposure to modeling software using CAiHE. Over the past few decades, hydraulic modeling has advanced, and Bentley Systems has kept up with the and advanced the state-of-the-art.
Recently, Bentley Systems released the 9th edition of CAiHE. The book has come a long way with new chapters on transient analysis and low-impact development and more homework problems added in recent editions.

About the CAiHE Book
A unique feature of the book compared to other hydraulics textbooks was the inclusion of professional-quality software including products like WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, and PondPack. The book features detailed step-by-step instructions on how to solve a variety of hydraulic problems using Bentley’s OpenFlows software. OpenFlows is the brand name covering Bentley’s hydraulics products.

The delivery of the software has also changed over the years. Originally, the software was distributed as a CD inside the back cover. With the 9th edition, the software is delivered by a download from a Bentley server.

How to access the CAiHE Book?
The earlier editions of CAiHE were hard-covered paper books. E-books and readers were not widely available back then. The 9th edition is available both as an e-book at no cost and as a paperback from Amazon.
