Design a Water Supply Network

Effective management of water systems are crucial to ensuring sustainability and protecting the environment. Increasingly, at the same time there is shortage of professional skills to develop water management programs. This virtual internship will prepare students to tackle real-world water distribution problems with WaterGEMS/WaterCAD, including a project for - the design of a water supply network for a new subdivision.  Students will develop skills in creating and editing WaterGEMS/WaterCAD models, managing data, performing fire flow analysis, identifying critical segments, and running simulations.

How to access software available on the Bentley Education Portal?


Kindly refer the instructions here to download the software OpenFlows WaterGEMS from the Bentley Education Portal . Users can also refer our YouTube video link which has all the steps that will guide them on how to download any Bentley desktop application from the Bentley Education Portal .

Project Details
Design an efficient and cost-effective water supply network. Minimize energy consumption by reducing friction losses. Ensure adequate water flow to all homes.

Files Required for Submission:

  1. Share a WaterGEMS file containing a detailed engineering design of the water supply network. File format - (.WTG)
  2. Create a comprehensive report outlining the design process, calculations, and results from the assigned tasks. PDF Document.
  3. A video presentation summarizing the key findings and recommendations. File Format - MP4
  4. Make sure to compress all the above-mentioned files in a .zip folder and rename it with your registered email ID before uploading.


Registration and Project Submission: Nov 24th, 2023, to Feb 28th, 2024

On successful submission of the project, students will receive “Bentley Education: Recognized Future Professional - WaterGEMS” Badge and Internship Certificate from AICTE.
