We have Select Server 8.11.7.111. The database will not run on SQL 2012. Is there a version of select server that allows the database to run on SQL 2012? If not, is there an ETA on the release of a version that will?
Hi,
My apologies as I thought this was answered previously. There is no new version that runs on SQL 2012 and currently there isn't a version planned. Is there a reason why you are not able to take advantage of the Hosted option? Maybe there is something we can address or clarify. If so, please post those questions for us.
Thanks,
Glenn
I noticed that SQL Server 2012 is listed as a supported SQL server database in the following technical requirements support solution. However, you would need to update to SELECTserver 09.00.00.113 first. That being said, the Hosted (i.e. SELECTserver OnLine) option mentioned by Glenn is a no-cost licensing solution that eliminates SELECTserver and license database administration on your end since client machines would use Bentley's license server in the cloud. Since my last response on this thread, version 09.00.00.113 was pulled from the Fulfillment Center because of a non-revenue impacting defect. The defect affects usage reporting from the latest Bentley products in certain situations. It is expected to be fixed in the next deployed release, according to development, but an estimated release date has not been determined yet. Please note that the defect has long since been fixed in SELECTserver OnLine.

No deployed version of SELECTserver currently supports SQL Server 2014. The SELECTserver Database Setup utility checks for a supported database version when configuring a license database.
As mentioned in my previous post, SELECTserver OnLine (aka the "hosted" server or Bentley CONNECT SELECTservices) renders the installation and database administration tasks above unnecessary, so I highly recommend migrating to this free licensing solution. Bentley provides this option because it greatly simplifies both setup and support.
