I am trying to create a new computer image for our company. We are currently on V8i SS3 - 8.11.8.151. The problem is with the new build and V8i - SS7 - 8.11.12.235, the Bentley Connection Client keeps popping up when logging into the machine not the software the machine, can this be turned off?
When it asks me to login . I tried my Bentley website login but it does not work. I don't want to have all our users to have to create a Bentley login just to get.
Please let me know thanks

Hello Mike,
The CONNECTION Client has settings to prevent it from starting (see CONNECTION Client Preferences) however some of the applications (in your case MicroStation) start the CONNECTION Client so those settings are overridden. The only version of MicroStation that I'm aware of that overrides the CONNECTION Client settings is MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 4).

This is completely unacceptable that you cannot turn this off. I don't need or want this to be running full time on my system, surely it's not to much to ask to have an option to turn off the app when you are not using it without resorting to registry hacks?
This is an old thread, but you can exit out of the CONNECTION Client when you are not running a Bentley application that uses Subscription Entitlement Service (SES) to activate your software.
Yea, well you need to get rid of Connection Client, as it is, completely. Go back to a static method of licensing. Even the old hardware lock was better than this bull stuff software. What if we're not interested in cloud based features?

I absolutely agree with you. Nobody looks through and I, as the sole user, have no time to log in or to control what this client is doing on my laptop. I work with customer data and this must not be sent to the third party. Who guarantees that Bentley will not have access to them? I have had the license since 1998 and pay something every year to stay without a license? In Germany, using the cloud without informing the customer is not compliant with the law!
This doesn't seem to be the case on the latest version. You can turn off auto sign in, you can turn off notifications, but you can't stop it starting up in the tray. Even if you remove it from the startup programs list, it still loads up in the background and then waits for you to sign in. Even if you choose to exit, it reappears in several minutes, even if you aren't using any Bentley product.
Yes, and this ist not okay! If I don´t use my Bentley Products I don´t need the Client. Must we take a some Registry actions to become silent on desktop? Sorry, but this is my computer and only me desidet what ist on or off.
There are some links between the CONNECTION Client and the License Client, so they check to see if each are running and restart if one isn't. If you don't want the CONNECTION Client to run, you will need to go into the Task Manager and end the License Client process. This does work as I have just done it. The CC has functioned like this for several versions. I am talking to the team here to look into some ways that we can honor the CC request to end while addressing some sync issues between both processes. Thanks.
Please understand my criticism as an attempt to make Bentley products better for the user. In Germany this CC is the problem to use Microstation Connect more. It is an exotic CAD program anyway and with CC it is not really sexy for new interested parties
I appreciate any feedback I can get from users so thanks for posting this. I hope to have more information on your suggestion by the end of the week.
If there are other things that could help with adoption of MicroStation please let me know, I'd be happy to discuss it with you.
Thanks,
Glenn
I wanted to follow back up with you in regards to the CONNECTION Client. I've spoken to the team and we are going to make a couple changes to reduce the CC popping up and well as a configuration option for those user who may not need to use a Bentley application frequently. Thanks
