I am trying to create a new computer image for our company. We are currently on V8i SS3 - 8.11.8.151. The problem is with the new build and V8i - SS7 - 8.11.12.235, the Bentley Connection Client keeps popping up when logging into the machine not the software the machine, can this be turned off?
When it asks me to login . I tried my Bentley website login but it does not work. I don't want to have all our users to have to create a Bentley login just to get.
Please let me know thanks

Hello Mike,
The CONNECTION Client has settings to prevent it from starting (see CONNECTION Client Preferences) however some of the applications (in your case MicroStation) start the CONNECTION Client so those settings are overridden. The only version of MicroStation that I'm aware of that overrides the CONNECTION Client settings is MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 4).

Hello,
We are still waiting to hear back on this matter. Ideally, the connection client or licensing would not even start unless a product was called. If it does have to start, It would be much more bearable if it started silently in the system tray.
Our users rarely use the Bentley products and it is a nuisance for the CC to be starting up all of the time.
Please give us the ability to kill the client and have it NOT start on start up. Alternatively, allow a sign-in to last 90 days but DO NOT present the CC unless a Bentley product is called.
Thanks,
James
You, me, and every other Bentley user. Ever.

This worked for me.
DOS/CMD/bat file:
taskkill /F /IM "Bentley.Connect.Client.exe"taskkill /F /IM "Bentley.Licensing.Service.exe"
PowerShell:
Stop-Process -Name "Bentley.Connect.Client" -ForceStop-Process -Name "Bentley.Licensing.Service" -Force
I created a Task that ran on login (with a 30 second delay) that ran a .bat file that killed CC. It works and the user doesn't see it. It's a little dumb that it requires this
Any update on this? I am trying to keep my post polite but I have just spent the last hour trying to close this program and I am another hour away from moving our company away from bentley products.
If you create a .bat file with this:
and have Windows Scheduled Task to run on Login that executes that .bat file - it kills the CC from auto-launching but doesn't keep users from using their software. Message me for details if that doesn't work in your environment.
For those of you looking for a way to get the CC Out of the Way. The following was suggested to me when I complained. Basically you check out a license, then ignore the dialog for login, I guess it will still sit in the tray, but not do anything. So it's more of a half-ashed solution. Details (email) -
This email refers to Service Request 7001257679, submitted on behalf of Bob Rayner. Description: connect to Bentley Product: MicroStation Product Area: Licensing You can check a license out to the machine to use it without having to connect to the web. The CONNECTION Client will open, but you don't have to sign in. The checked out license will allow you to work while disconnected.
