It's been a while since I have posted, but I continue to struggle to ever find software on the downloads site. More often than not, I call support and ask for a link.
I found the previous version for downloads much more intuitive and easy to use. My suggestion of a methodology to improve the download site is to contact users who have not used the site, and have the developers observe them trying to find software - without coaching. Just observe the process, then take that feedback to refine the design so new users can more intuitively locate the software they are looking for.
I know I have posted this type of feedback previously, and I have spoken with our account manager about it repeatedly, along with the support team (often when I am calling for assistance to get a download link), but it feels like my feedback is not being acted upon. I'd really like to see the downloads section approved. I had hoped to download some software tonight, and instead I've given up and made use of the feedback link.
Hello,
We are in process of improving the software download site based on feedback from users. We already have some changes in place. I would like to know more about your recent experience with the site so we can help you better. Please reach out to me at rahul.patil at bentley.com.
You're not the only one- I've thought this for some years. Not that I can't usually find what I need, but this thing is clunky. I look forward to the redesign!
Two years later.... and still you are perfectly right. Your suggestion that developers should observe the struggling sounds great to me. Pity Bentley doesn't seem to understand how to HELP their customers in this...
