Client does not access to this site.

I have the home version of Microstation V8i from  where I work. I have put in the license key and set the server to selectserver-home. Program runs and claims it is activated. Initially the countdown was 29 days to activate. Everyday, though, I have to go through the activation process and now the day counter is down to 16 days. What is going on? Is the program going to cease operating at 0 days? do I need a Proxy server. Is my firewall causing the problem. IT at my day job says they don't service the home version. Running Windows 10

  • When you say "home version," are you using the free MicroStation Trial? If so, this version requires a MicroStation Trial license which is not available on the home-use server. The home-use server has licenses for the full version of MicroStation, though. Please obtain an installer for the full version of MicroStation from your employer, install it on your home computer, and configure it to use selectserver-home and your home-use key. As a reminder, the home-use server should only be utilized for non-commercial work at home such as hobbies and home improvement projects.

  • Jeremy,
Thank you, for your response. At work I use Microstation and according to contract with Bentley we can receive the full version for home use. The Install instructions that came with the disc I received from our IT people has us connect to the selectserver-home and the key I received activates the program and says I can use the product. I was instructed by our IT people to do a send log file command and did and it says it is activated. But then I get a pop up that says “Client does not have access to this site”. Who is client in this case?

  • The client is your machine. I checked what appears to be your home-use key (ending in E47D), but I am not seeing any restrictions that would explain the pop-up message. As a troubleshooting step, please click the License Checkout tab. Does it populate with a list of products? If so, your machine has access to communicate with the home-use license server.

  • Jeremy,

The key I was given with the prog. ends in 5B2E. I wonder if what you see is my old key from an earlier home version that is on a different machine, which, by the way gives me the same message so I cant use it. I assumed it meant that it was deactivated. So next, when I click on License checkout - this is when I get the “Client does not have access to this site” message and when I close the message the window does not populate with anything. I think we are discovering something.

In response to your first reply I do use this for a hobby I call the Strand Theatre Project. I am trying to do renderings but I'll have to get on a different forum to work out those bugs.

  • I am not sure if this is relative but I think this will show the problem - in the licdebug.log file are a slew of issues from registry HLKM files not being created to other communication problems.
