Hi,
using new CONNECT Licensing, is it possible to restrict it in such way the user can be logged only once (not possible to login as the same user at more computers at the same time)?
With regards,
Jan
Hi Jan,
User is allowed to use same user ID for different machine at the same time.
Thanks

Hi Ajay,
thanks for your answer.
I have to admit I am confused now and I do not understand, how - as often highlighted - is the new CONNECTION licensing better in software usage management contrary to old hosted SELECT server licensing?
I am really missing real examples and best practices how Bentley recommends to manage the licenses. It's somethign different than overall common introduction how licensing works (because how something works is very different type of information from how it should be used).

There are three advantages:1) There is a warning box with a customizable message (via the connect.bentley.com website) that gives your user a warning. Once they have that warning, the user has to accept the potential overage or cancel the open process. (So if everyone is on your side with preventing overages, it helps.)2) You can set up an instant email to let you know when someone accepts an overage. (And if you get there within 10 minutes, maybe you can prevent the overage...)3) Bentley has a big benefit. They now have a record that user XYZ accepted the overage, so (even though they are not authorized to make charges on the company account) your company has no excuse in paying the Bentley bill.
The intro to CE Update 11 talks about there being a benefit to being "user based" instead of "machine based". That entire benefit is for Bentley, not the user. (There may be some potential on-line log checking benefits for some companies, but it's useless to us.)

While this is an improvement, CONNECT licensing is still not real time licensing. If users are not always logging in to CONNECTION Client there will not be a warning about overages until it's too late.

Administrators can disable offline use for specific products to address this concern as shown in the screenshot below. However, this setting will also prevent users from accessing a product due to networking issues, so it is a trade-off.
I have activated license warning for Microstation and with Connect Edition it works fine. But If another client wants to start Microstation Select Series 10, I don't get any warnings and the program starts without query. Why? For me Select Series 10 means Connect licensing, too.
