We have an old Windows 7 computer with MicroStation v8 2004 (08.05.02.35) installed. This computer is obviously falling to pieces as it's very old but it's a relic from the past that stiil needs to be used everyday by a few employees.

It still gives me the previously attached error message. The super long License Key string in the license file must translate to some important data like the original computer name. That's why I think just changing the computer name somewhere else in the license file isn't working.

RE: [Microstation v8 2004] License problem for computer transition

We don't have a SELECT agreement.
Is the gateway service on VM is started? Did you change the server name in MSV8.lic file to SERVER=PT208643-VM obn client machine?

Here's the screenshot :

Here's the log entry from lmdebug.log :

1 [2018-11-23 07:20:57.308 ~0x4f0] ClientLicenseFile::validateLicenseRecord: License rejected; mismatched fingerprint: PT208643 != PT208643-VM

As discussed in my original post, I can't take the chance to rename the original PT208643 computer to something else and then rename the VM to PT208643 from PT208643-VM as we need time to test the Virtual Machine during which time the physical machine will stay in production.

Thank you.

RE: [Microstation v8 2004] License problem for computer transition

Hello Pierre,
