I recently purchased a perpetual license for Bentley Powerdraft V8i and decided to install the CONNECT version too. When opening the product I was greeted with a 7 day trial dialogue. I contacted the seller and they advised looking at this:-
This article describes how to activate products under a CONNECT license. I found the Bentley licensing tool and it shows the Powerdraft license type as being 'trial', when clearly this should be otherwise. It appears that you can't alter the license type manually either. could someone please advise why the license type is showing 'Trial' when it should show something like 'commercial'?
Despite your best efforts, no change. I open Powerdraft CONNECT and get the same answer.

the seller of the product spoke to one of their technical consultants and this is what he said about the issue.
"What he is seeing is the situation that applies to us also.
While you are connected to the internet the 7 day ‘trial’ period is constantly being updated, everyday when you open the software. So under those conditions, once activated, you should never get to the end of the ‘trial’.
It only becomes an issue if you become disconnected from the internet, of take your machine ‘offline’, once it cannot connect to the Bentley server it will start the 7 Day countdown.
This happens to me if I do training on customer sites with no internet access, if Gary feels he will be offline for longer than 7 days he can check out or Reserve the license to his machine, then it will be able to be used for one year before the 7 day count down re-appears. Then a check in and check out for another year is required."

Yes for the offline mode you can reserve the license for one year and can use it without internet connection.
Any further ideas as to why Powerdraft CONNECT is still reading as a trial version after your modifications? Could it have something to do with me trialing the V8i version of Powerdraft. I also tried to install a trial version of Powerdraft CONNECT, having deleted the trial of the V8i version but as I installed the CONNECT version, I was greeted with an expiry of trial dialogue box. It was as though the CONNECT trial had somehow recognised that I'd had a trial of Powerdraft already, despite me having deleted it. Or is it that Bentley only allow you a trial of only one product?

Are you unable to reserve a license when the product is shown as being used as a trial ie do I have to wait until the trial has expired before I can reserve the product?
