We have received an invoice from Bentley for over usage. Having just checked this it appears that Bentley have reported usage by pc's that don't have MicroStation installed and are just been used (when working from home) to access their work pc via VPN/RDP.
I have asked our Account Manager why this has happened but would like to know if any one else has seen this.
Bentley - Why is this happening and how do I get the invoice rescinded?
Using MS Remote access the remote computer name is used so it can trigger wrong usage but it shouldn't generate overusage.
Hi,
If I understand things correctly, if a computer can have multiple logins (especially at the same time), the licensing will use the client's computer name (rather than the server). This could cause overages if there are multiple logins with Microstation open.

Yes this may seem the issue. Bentley will consider this as real usage if Microstation was left open and another user connected using RDP that is why it logs the client name in the first place so not to multiply licenses by RDP.
For SES-based products, the shared workstation scenario you described could cause overlapping usage since suspended Windows user sessions are still running products in the background. The following wiki provides a solution to prevent overlapping usage on a shared workstation.
