Unable to Uninstall WATERCAD or CONNECTION Client.

Hi,

I recently installed WATERCAD on my personal desktop because I needed to record a lecture for my class. I have some major concerns about the behavior of CONNECTION Client

1. It refuses to exit. When I exit the software, it comes back. I do not like the persistence of the CONNECTION client on my personal computer.

2. It does not uninstall from my computer. I tried to uninstall both WATERCAD and CONNECTION client but doesn't seem to help. CONNECTION Client is stuck at "Creating Restore Point" and WATERCAD uninstallation is stuck at "Initializing"

Is there a way to get these software off my computer?

  • If you are running Windows 7, please don't. You probably are not getting security patches. Use W10

You have to sign into CC to license as mentioned by Glenn but that's only if the Bentley software is running or you are using its Sync Cloud feature. The best option to you is to

    • open Task Manager, Startup tab, locate all entries that start with Bentley and disable (that's autostart) This may require elevation (run as admin)
    • Sign into CC whenever it is automatically opened by the software that needs it.
    • Whenever not using any Bentley software and it is open, use Task Manager or PowerShell to end task on anything that starts with Bentley (License and CC). They will not reopen until you open software that needs them.

  • I should have included disabling automatic updates inside Connection Client. If it is able to update, it likely will overwrite the disabled startup.

  • Hi Bill,

The only thing enabled was the Bentley licensing server and I disabled it. I understand that I can end task or disable it but I don't think software should work this way. When I am not running software that needs CC, it should stay off. I don't know why include the "Exit" open when it opens 2 seconds later. This is malware-like behavior and poorly programmed in my opinion.

Also, my problem now is that I cannot uninstall the software from my own computer which is ridiculous.

Edit: Forgot to add that I am using Windows 10

  • As you can see from my boring signature, I can't fix it. Only offering what works for me. I would not be surprised if it is scanning the machine and it does report back activity (don't know if it is more than use of SES software). It complains if it doesn't get a login at least once a month.

I remove their software on a very frequent basis without problems. Of course, CC is required if you use any SES license managed by CC which it appears you do.
