I am a former MicroStation Drafter/Operator. I am retired and am looking for an affordable package of very basic MicroStation drafting tools to create simple 2D drawings and export to a small b/w printer.
Specifically, I'm considering developing model trains as a hobby. While the engines and rail cars are small, the track layouts require considerable space. I wish to draft these layouts to see if I have enough space in my house.
If I can't provide an adequately sized area in my home, there's no point to embark on this hobby.
I'm looking to buy or assume a license for PowerDraft or a similar MicroStation product operating on a standard PC. No database, 3D modeling or networking. Home use only, nothing commercial. Less than $1000 would be great.
Thank youJimmy Parks
I see PowerDraft for $2700. A third of that cost would be a lot just for sketching some track layouts.
Here is a fairly reasonably priced solution. $ 1,081 – $ 2,410 for a 12 month subscription license.

I think I saw it even for a cheaper price but I might be mistaken...
At this point, PowerDraft is a discontinued product... Any purchases at this point need to be full the full license (not just a subscription), and will not have support. With the Connect Licensing, all PowerDraft licenses will have to be upgraded to Microstation. Bentley has already send out emails relating to that.
