I d/l View to review Microstation DGN files. Why I need a license to use a free viewing application is beyond me (except for marketing), but I installed the Licensing Tool with CONNECTION. How do I use the actual View application???
CONNECTION will not connect:
The Licensing Tool won't let me log in OR create a new user:
I get nothing but errors.
was a Microstation user for 16 years, until 12 years ago...I see the licensing hasn't improved...
I've wasted too much time with a "free" app.
Please advise. TY.
Hi - So to be clear, you click on 'New User, Register Now" and you get that error? Have you tried again since you posted this? I can't tell what version of the CONNECTION Client you are running and I don't see any details about your environment, so it could be a number of things. I'd file a Service Request to have it looked at.
Also, you don't need a license, View is still a free application. But yes, users need to register to run the application, which is fairly common anymore.
That is correct on 'New User..." error. Yes, I have tried again. Client version is the latest; I d/l it Friday, 04/09/21. (CONNECT Version: "Update 15").
Windows 7 Pro.
I may not need a license, but View won't load w/o CONNECT running and logged in.
The issue you are having is that you are on an Operating System, where the Microsoft end of life started on January 2020, that is not supported by the current version of the CONNECTION Client.

The 10.00.19.31 version is available on Software downloads and should work for your version of Windows, but depending on your Subscription level you may not be able to get it. I would suggest going to our software downloads center and seeing if you can get it. softwaredownloads.bentley.com/.../
This is a municipal PC and Windows cannot be upgraded.
I get an "Access Denied: NON SELECT" error when I go to the link for version 10.00.19.31.
That is unfortunate, sorry I could not resolve this for you.
Appreciate the effort, Glenn. Thanks, again.
