For instance, if the full computer name is workstation127.engineeringfirm.com, only workstation127 would need to be specified. The user name is completely arbitrary as far as I can tell. You could specify the user portion of the email address in the User Name field, for instance.

Re: Temporary license

What would I input for Workstation name and User name if the user is not in the network (i.e. a home user)?

Re: Temporary license

In the SELECTserver admin interface you can checkout a license using the License Checkout link under the License Management section. After providing the required information (Workstation Name, User Name, E-Mail address and application version) You'll then have the option of e-mail the license to the user or downloading and xml file that can be provided to them. They then import that XML file using the License Management tool.

Re: Temporary license

If the user is not on the network, can he still check out a license? However, the recipient of the temp key must be able to communicate with your license server. Note: this is not an issue for users of Bentley's hosted server since any Internet-connected computer can access the license server.

If the recipient will not have access to your network, then a license checkout may be more desirable. This allows licenses to be locked to specific workstations for a specified duration. License files can be generated using the License Checkout feature on the SELECT Server site administration page (located on the left sidebar, License Management section). A license file would then be imported on a recipient workstation using the License Management Tool. Once the license file is imported, it is no longer needed.

Re: Temporary license

Is checking out a license the same as issuing a temporary?
