Node lock license won't stick

I have a node lock license for Power Civil v8i 08.11.06.39. I have successfully used it to activate my product. However at times when I run the software it will not recognize the license and I have to run through the activation process again to get it to activate. Sometimes I cannot get it to activate. I don't understand what is causing this. I am working on my home machine which is isolated from the license server so I can't  connect to it.

Here is a screen recording showing my activation workflow:

I have had this problem in the past when we were using a hosted server as well.

Can anyone identify the problem?

  • The Product Activation Wizard checks out a node-locked license to your workstation for a specified duration (usually a year). Once this duration is complete, the license "expires" and returns to the license server, requiring you to repeat the activation process to continue using the product. This may explain the licensing behavior you are encountering. To determine how long a checked out license is valid, open the License Management Tool, and note the expiration date for the license in the bottom pane. Using this tool, the license can also be checked back in early and checked out again with your own expiration date, if desired.

  • Jeremy,

Please note the expiration date on the license in the screen recording. It expires on 6/26.

  • HI Neil,

Have a look at the 08.11.07.244 build.  Two things, you will need to recheck-out the license with the updated version, however this should resolve the problem you are experiencing.  HTH...

  • Steven,

I don't have access to Select Services so I can't download a newer version. Is there a known issue with 08.11.05.39? Is there a patch to fix the problem? I really need to find a way to make this work.

BTW, I posted the wrong version in my original post. It should have been 08.11.05.39.

  • Hi Neil,

Given the latest info there (08.11.05.39) we have two issues at hand.  One the version you are on has a know issue with checked out licenses, second, the license you have is for the wrong PowerCivil.  SO to rectify this, you will need to file a service ticket, and our TSG folks will get you set up with everyting you need.
