SSXM and Group Policy

Hi all,

First off, let me first state that I am not an expert with Windows Active Directory, and Group Policy. But I did recently get a good example put together of using Group Policy to push out XM Desktop application Activation keys. In case you're not aware of this functionality, Bentley provides a template file that you will find in the SELECT Server XM program folder once installation is commplete. With this file, you can establish policies at the Domain, Site, or Organization Unit level to automatically configure Bentley (XM) client license settings. Below are two videos that show how I set this up. Be advised that this represents only one way to do this, and I am sure there are others.

You may view these videos with Windows Media Player, but I think they look better with the (freely available) VLC Media Player.

By the way, these were done with SSXM 08.09.03.48. You do not need the Athens build to set this up.

Hope this is useful,

Gary
