My system is Windows7 64 bit Professional. I have installed Selectserver Gateway 8.11.7.88 and connected successfully to the Bentley server with my activation key. Mstn 8.5.2.70 can launch and get a license. If I have running any other application, like outlook or PDF reader, then launch Mstn 8.5.2.70 it will freeze at the splash screen, seemingly unable to get a license. Any ideas?
The current release of SELECTserver (Gateway) is v08.11.07.111... have you tried using that instead? Also, are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the Gateway?
BTW, you are aware that MicroStation V8 2004 Edition is not officially certified for use on Windows 7, correct? Are you running any other "layered applications", or just MicroStation?
I am using the 32 bit version installed to the 32 bit program files folder. I was not aware there was a later version of the gateway, I will download that first thing tomorrow. What I cant understand is that it works perfectly, just not when other apps are running. Does the later version have a bug fix for the issue I am describing?
I will follow through with your suggestion, however it might take a week or two as the computer is now deployed in the field.
I was NOT aware that 2004 edition was not certified for Win7. It has been working fine on all other computers I have setup this way, but thank you for pointing that out. At this point we are using MicroStation without verticals, and with some custom in-house tools.
Phil, I have now installed SSGW 8.11.7.111 as per your instruction, and the 64bit version to match the machine. The outcome is still the same, but with direct access to the machine, I have more details to provide you. I can run any number of different applications and Mstn still gets a license. It is only when we connect to the Internet using a usb wireless 3G device that the licensing gets stuck, halting Mstn on the splash screen. Seems it is unable to communicate with Selectserver when using the usb modem. If I run Mstn then connect to the Internet, Mstn remains licensed. The device is a Telstra NextG wireless modem (Australia)
