Error: Activating against a Select Server (Client)

Hello,

I am trying to activate a client machine on Windows 7, we have had no issue with this on our Windows XP machines, but now are experiencing problems.

I am simpley just trying to activate my product with your server.

As you can see in this image it won't allow me to activate this... Any Idea's?

  • Hello djordan92,

Have you tried unchecking the box that says "Use HTTPS (SSL)"?  Will it work without that box checked?  As long as the machine has internet access, it should be able to connect to the hosted server.  There really shouldn't be an difference between how licensing works on a Win XP and Win 7 machine.  I have seen UAC cause problems on Win 7 machines but from that screen shot, it does not look to be the case here.

You may need to turn up logging for licensing to further troubleshoot the issue.  You can enable licensing logging right from the license management tool (licensetool.exe).  The logs can then be reviewed by TSG to determine the cause of the problem.  To enable logging from the license management tool, open the license management tool (licensetool.exe) and select tools>options.  If you see a tab called "error logging" select that and check the box to enable logging.  Turn all logging levels on and select the directory where the log file will be written.   Select the "SELECTserver" tab and enter the server name and activation key.  Select test connection to reproduce the error message.  You can create a service ticket online at appsnet.bentley.com/.../addcall.aspx and upload the log file there.  You do not want  to upload the file here as it will contain sensitive licensing information.

    Regards,

    Phil
