IIS Worker Process

Greetings

We recently updated our SelectServer to a Windows 2008 VM using SELECTserver - Version 9.0.0.99. Throughout the day the IIS Worker Process climbs to about 550mb of memory usage and anywhere from 15% - 50% CPU usage. This is causing the administration page and reports to load very very slow. This seems to be causing problems when new users activate the product as the “Send Logs Now” option under the License Management Tool and the Activate option does not respond after a long period. We have been getting around this by doing an IISRESET on the server periodically throughout the day.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if they found a solution.

Thank you

  • Hi Don,

It has been noted that SELECTserver 9 installation has made changes to the internal schema where the physical license and usage information is stored. To allow the changes to be properly implemented the SELECTserver application does start to process and update archived (old) usage information. The process is usually fairly quick but I have seen in some installations where the process is time consuming and a tad resource heavy depending on the operating system and the available resources. In some of the biggest sites it has been processed in "chucks" over a multiple day period. With all of that said, the process does complete and get back to a more normal less resource intensive action. I ask that you just monitor the process for a few days. If you feel that this is a continuing and increasing resource drain please open a Service ticket with the Bentley Technical support team. We can be reached by the following methods.

http://www.bentley.com/serviceticketmanager  or call the SELECT toll-free number for the region you are in.

I or one of my colleagues with the SELECTServer support team will be more than happy to investigate along with you and your IT staff to help determine the cause and the resolution to the issue.
