User is upgrading to the latest version of SELECTserver, but is having trouble retrieving the license file electronically. Please follow up to make sure everything is configured correctly so that his SELECTserver will be able to correctly communicate with Bentley. Thank you.
The misconception here is that the SELECTserver application is in control of connecting to the backend Bentley server. The communications in play are no different that connecting to Google or some other website. The difference being that it is started and directed by a specific application (SELECTServer) and is attempting to bring in content (that may be violating some environment restriction). What needs to be reviewed is the local virus protection, firewall, certificate and proxy serverconfigurations that are applicable to the user's specific environment. To get started the general information is needed.
1) Exact version number of SELECTserver installed.
2) Server or workstation operating system. Is it 32 or 64 bit?
3) What error are you seeing on the server (a screen capture would be helpful) When the admin page first opens what is displayed.
4) What error are you seeing on the client “ if applicable” (a screen capture would be helpful)
5) Zipped copy of the “C:\Program Files\Bentley\SELECTServer\Logs” directory (or the root directory of where you installed the application
6) Copy of your serial number and activation keys (in this case I have the activation keys) NEVER POST activation information on a forum)
If there is a connection problem the log files should give me some indication of what is happening. files can be uploaded to the Be Communities Secure File Upload area.
