Gateway Activates but is unable to start

Posted for a user; 
 user has two select server sites One running 08.11.xx.xx and the other 09.00.xx.xx Gatew way is physically on the server running 09.00.00.113 Server 2008 R2 
 The Error in the Gateway log read 
 The request failed with HTTP status 407: Access Denied.

The gateway is a client to the SELECTserver application it is unable to run in a locked down environment. The short version of that conversation is that it must run anonymously even if the rest of the system is using NT authentication. It is controlled through the WS folder in the IIS configurations. 
 Check the gateway logs in the C:\Program Files\Bentley\SELECTServer\Logs directory. 
 The Error in the Gateway log read 
 The request failed with HTTP status 407: Access Denied. 
 Make sure that folder as identified in IIS has the setting AUTHENTICATION > ANONYNOUS ACCESS set to ENABLED (image below) 
 Run iisreset from a comand prompt so the change will take effect 
 This should allow your Gateway to start. If your gateway does not start you are experiencing a different gateway issue.
